Since our humble beginnings in 1932 as a small grower’s cooperative in Madhubai, Bihar we’ve been building long-lasting partnerships with our customers. Late Sri RamChandra Sah, a farmer and
owner of ponds in Madhubani, Bihar
spotted the makhana seeds in their ponds
and realized its health benefits and started
popping it for personal use. Being a
purposeful person, he determined to
harvest this seed and spread the health
benefits.

WE OWNED PONDS

By 1960, we owned ponds in the Mithila region of Bihar to crop seed and trade the raw makhana in wholesale market – used in Indian festivals.
People started recognizing him as famous "MAKHANAWALA" in his fraternity.

SECOND GENERATION

Second generation continued to grow the awareness of Makhana beyond the use in Indian Festivals

Executive Team

Bijay Kumar Sah

Position

Second Generation, continuing the purpose of spreading the benefits of Makhana and took the business to an International
level. He build a trusted farmer network who proudly call them together ‘We are Growers, We are Makhanawala!’. A cooperative network of
farmers proudly joined our brand.

Alpana Sahne

Position

Third Generation. Having done masters in Agriculture science from Pune University and an MBA from Symbiosis. Alpana Sahana
is responsible for the entire R&D and Producation facility in Pune – key business unit to support growth in our Snack business

Jayant Sahne

Position

20 Years of experience in Marketing and Sales in blue chip companies primarily in Birla Group of companies, Jayant is the
Managing Director of India operation which is the key driver of the growth of the business and contribute by far the significant part of the Group
Revenue. Jayant joined the team in 2017 and since then company has grown CAGR of over 100% per annum

Rajendra Prasad

Position

Over 25 years of experience in food manufacturing and previously owned and managed production of edible oils and food
ingredients. He is responsible for the production facility in Bihar for our ingredient division ‘Maruti Makhana’. His knowledge of automated
production and quality is being key in establishing our fully integrated popping facility while maintaining food safety and hygiene which is a core
issue withing this segment.
