Our story
Our incorporation, “Maruti Makhana” is struggling in this industry for several years and these years of efforts come in an outstanding way that we are gratifying the huge clients’ base. Our association is a sole proprietorship based venture. We have settled our main head office at Bara Bazar, Madhubani, Bihar. Since 1940, we are matching up with the never ending necessities of the customers; our company is engaged in manufacturing and trading of Roasted Makhana, Raw Makhana. Furthermore, we manufacture all the products under the keen supervision of our ardent professional and follow the entire quality norms and offer the hygiene packaging standards.
Our entire range of Makhana is appreciated for its features like freshness, purity and gastronomical values. All these products are hygienically packaged in order to avoid adulteration and ensure safety. Also, we have a spacious and well equipped warehousing unit that has all the facilities for storing a bulk of products. Our products are very safe for human health and do not pose any threat to the environment as well.

Who We Are
The story dates back to 80 years when Late Shr. Ramchandra Sah saw potential in makhana. Despite being from a peasant middle-class family, he started the business of raw makhana on a small scale. It was a time when makhana was just another crop and not yet known as a superfood. His hard work, persistence, research and passion for this business earned him the identity of Makhanawala in the community.
Soon the business grew from mere trading to processing and manufacturing products made of these miraculous seeds. In 1941, he formed a small growers co-operative in Madhubani (Bihar) and thus ensured their welfare and continuous supply of raw material. As a co-operative of more than 3,000 growers, with one guiding goal, to bring the benefits of Makhana (Water Lily Pops) to the world they are proud to be a part of the world’s largest and most trusted supplier of Makhana.
Today, 3000 growers are members of the
“Makhanawala” family and we have a setup of 3 processing units in Bihar under the name “Maruti Makhana” (2 in Madhubani and 1 being in Patna) and our in-house state of the art facility in Pune for Roasted/ Flavoured makhana was established in the year 2016 under the company name “Makhanawala Natura Foods Pvt Ltd*.
